Well, I finally did it. I upgraded my Sony Vaio Laptop from Windows 2000 to Windows XP Professional.
The install was a bit rocky, some drivers and such were missing. Overall I am liking the change. I had XP Home on my desktop, and decided to take the plunge and update my laptop.
Also, I bought another wireless PC Card by D-link from Best Buy for $69.99 US after a $10 rebate. Plugged it in and viola! XP recognized it, installed some drivers and now I am really liking the Zero Wireless admin function of XP. I can roam around and it will tell me when I am in a Wifi area network.
On another note, will be heading to Chicago this weekend to visit my wife’s family. Should be fun, taking the Liberty down on its first long trip. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Hello
I recently took over posession of my friends sony pcg fx210 laptop. It had windows ME installed. I wiped the disk and did a fresh install of XP-PRO it installed without a problem. However i am not able to connect with the modem. I check in device manager and it shows that the modem is working properly???. Are there any drivers that need to be loaded for the standard modem that came with the machine? Or is there another problem? Also are there any other drivers that need to be installed? I did not install any of the sony software that came with the machine.
Any help would be appreciated!
THANKS
